Facing the Giants: "Your Absolute Best"

"Watching You" by Rodney Atkins

A Father's Love

The 1992 Olympics in Barcelona: Derek Redmond, 400-meter runner from Great Britain, started off strong in the semifinal heat. Only 175 meters from the finish, Redmond was on pace to move easily into the finals when his right hamstring suddenly popped and he pulled up lame. What followed was one of the most inspiring examples of a father’s love. Afterward, Derek’s father Jim said, "I'm the proudest father alive. I'm prouder of him than I would have been if he had won the gold medal. It took a lot of guts for him to do what he did."
