Do you have a teenage son? Have you ever wondered what it takes to help him successfully transition from a boy to a man? What are the important Biblical principals that our teenagers need to master to make that transition in today's culture? Sure Passage and Peregrine Ministries are local nonprofit ministries that are partnering with churches to offer "Passage to Manhood" workshops.Passage to Manhood - Guiding Teenage Men to Adulthood"Our goal is to guide young teenagers to intentionally embrace life as an adult in today's culture." This 10-week workshop helps teenage boys (along with their father or a male mentor) set a course for adulthood and learn to navigate it successfully. Two age-appropriate tracks are offered: I) ages 13-15 and II) ages 16-17. (Track selection may be adjusted based on individual maturity level.) The sessions consist of group meetings, activities, and lessons based on biblical, Christ-centered concepts (e.g. Integrity, Honoring Women, Character of a Godly Man, etc.). Following the lessons, the teen and his father (or adult male mentor) will together plan and take a special adventure. This memorable experience should demonstrate an element of challenge and responsibility as part of the young man's new identity. The program concludes with a gathering of workshop participants along with invited guests (family and friends). Each young man reports on his growth through the lessons and the adventure. There is a time of blessing and recognition for those who have completed the workshop. The guests then respond by committing to acknowledge and support the ongoing transition of these young men into manhood. This celebration ceremony occurs on the last scheduled meeting of the session. Two session formats are available: 1) Weekly 90-minute group meetings that include the lessons, fun activities, and small group discussion time. All meetings are held in a casual atmosphere facility, typically near a scenic location. Participants are also asked to meet for at least one hour father-to-son to process what is being learned each week between the scheduled group meetings. 2) Three retreat-style weekend meetings with self-guided study of lessons in between. The first meeting is a half-day of outdoor activities and lesson guidance. Four weeks later we meet for a couple of hours as a group to discuss progress and get further guidance. Another 4 weeks later, the final meeting is an overnight adventure followed by a half-day of lesson wrap-up and the celebration ceremony. All three group meetings are held at a retreat location and participants are then asked to go through the lesson material on their own during the intervening weeks until the next group meeting. All sessions are facilitated by Craig Glass who will be your instructor and guide throughout the experience. Craig is a gifted communicator, has served in several ministry leadership roles, and is currently directs Peregrine Ministries, working on a heart level with men, in keeping with his passion to "lead them into relationships and experiences that transform their lives." Craig has been married for 27 years and is the father of three children ages 23, 21 and 19. (See Craig's Bio.) Important RequirementThe first hour of each session is an orientation for fathers, mothers, and male mentors. At least one parent must attend this first hour. Mothers are encouraged to attend this first hour and should also plan to be at the celebration ceremony (along with other family and friends) for the closing 90 minutes of the last session. All other sessions are for men and young men only. An outline of topics is provided. Comments from fathers who have experienced Passage to Manhood "Do it! Have the courage to start a tradition! This program addresses a concept that is sorely missed in the American culture. ...One of the most valuable things this program provides is the opportunity for a Father & Son to experience something important together. It’s all part of the journey." "This is the most valuable structured event you could commit to- particularly early in the sons teenage years." "This program provides the structure for covering topics most fathers want to discuss with their sons, but don't know how." "Take the class! The investment in the class will be multiplied 10 fold to you and your son." Current OptionsNote: ** The final celebration ceremony is very important and you should not sign up for a session if you cannot attend that scheduled date. Also, this is a "high commitment" activity, so please do not sign up for a session if you know you will miss more than one meeting. PTM #1 Weekend Retreat Format:
