bulletHow to partner with us

Introduction: Sure Passage provides individuals, in family or group settings, practical methods for succeeding during crucial changes that occur throughout life. Our approach is to offer a roadmap through key life transition points and then to guide each person to intentionally use that roadmap through a series of creative, memorable experiences.  Sure Passage has several affiliations with people and organizations who use our model to provide specific programs, such as: Parenting Skills, Life Coaching, Passage to Manhood, and International Youth Trips.  My primary focus is on Fathering and Mission Projects.

Several people have invested time and money to get us started and we have successfully piloted a few programs. Now is the time to fully develop our services to reach a wider audience. I am ready to do more and I invite you to partner with me in this exciting endeavor!

Gentry's primary focus:

Guiding Families, where

Men become Faithful Fathers
Youth become Able Adults

and truly live with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength!

Workshops

Providing a roadmap through life…
Initiation (Passage Points)
• Father’s Blessing
• Grade school
• Middle school
• High school
• College
• Career & marriage

One story...

Family Priority Workshop: I was honored to speak at Cook Communications International Christian Publishing Institute on the topic: “Save the World – Loose Your Family.” I was able to give leaders of Christian publishing houses from 35 countries some practical insights on the priority of keeping family life healthy in the midst of business and ministry pressures. I believe God used the session to challenge us all in that area!

Adventure Excursions

Learning through memorable experiences…
Outdoor Adventure
• Men
• Father/Son
• Father/Daughter
• Families
• Youth

One story...

Bonding in the Backcountry: Focus on the Family Magazine featured the father/son canoe trip that Garrett and I helped guide last fall on the Gunnison River. I led a Father’s Blessing time where each father looked into the eyes of his son and spoke affirmation and blessing. The words were different for each, but the themes were the same: I’m proud of you. I love you. I enjoy watching God shape you into a man.  The article quotes a couple of the guys:

“The highlight of my trip was spending more time with my dad,” Joshua Hildebrand says.
“The blessing ceremony was especially cool,” Garrett says. “The things my dad said will stick with me for a long time.”  [read more...]

Mission Projects

Serving others / faith in action…
Outreach Projects
• Hands-on
• Local
• International
• Mission Trips

One story...

Two-week Mission Trips: Various teams of families, students, and individuals on work and service projects in South America.  Specific father/son and father/daughter teams do light construction projects in the Dominican Republic.  Adult and student teams participate in outreach projects in Ecuador. We worked in urban and rural locations and in indigenous villages, where many live in poverty – helping local churches show the love of Jesus through street dramas, orphanage ministry, sports camps, and feeding the homeless. We also assisted with a music concert crusade and work projects.  This are life-changing experiences - for the team members and for the people they serve!

Ministry Affiliates

The overall operational philosophy of Sure Passage is to develop and enable ministry through partnerships with individuals and other organizations (ministry “Affiliates”). The current organizational structure includes three ministry affiliates, each performing transition-related services in the areas of resource/workshop development, one-on-one coaching, and guiding transformational experiences. As we add capabilities, it is hoped that other individuals will join us as affiliates under the Sure Passage umbrella. We will grow our permanent staff when we require sustained support functions, currently being handled by one person.

Sure Passage can come along side and help someone else’s vision become a reality – either by facilitating start-up with administrative and operational services or by helping to develop the ministry’s materials and programs from a transition perspective. We will enter into a “ministry agreement” contract for a sub-contractor working relationship with each affiliate. The essence of that agreement includes:

• Requirements:
o Stated vision, mission, and programs must be consistent with a transition purpose
o God-honoring working relationship of mutual trust
• Sure Passage Responsibility:
o Contribution processing and receipting (5% assessment fee)
o Program registration services (10% administrative fee)
o Assistance with marketing and development
• Affiliate Responsibility:
o Identify as a “ministry of” Sure Passage (corporate identity and contact info)
o Financial accountability to Sure Passage board
o Quarterly ministry reports

If you have a ministry or project idea (or know some who does) and would like to look into partnering with Sure Passage, please contact us regarding our Affiliate program.

New Book! Men's Ministry in the 21st Century: The Encyclopedia of Practical Ideas

I was honored to be one of the contributing authors for a new book aimed at helping churches develop a vibrant ministry to men.  My chapter on building a leadership team provides a structured approach along with practical resources to recruit and equip the layman within a local church who will in turn form and lead collaborative teams as the backbone of an effective ministry to and through men.
