Family Legacy Outreach
We believe that everyone should have at least one mission experience. Ideally
we all should be serving others right where we live throughout our days on
earth. And sometimes a good mission trip is just what it takes to embrace that
view of our role in this world. Memories of helping people in need while
realizing changes in ourselves provide perspective and purpose to the daily
routine. Now, rather than feeling too young or too old to go on a mission trip
or that each family member goes on a separate tip, wouldn’t it be great if the
entire family could experience a mission project together? We have gone on
mission trips as a family and it is an incredibly bonding experience! There is
power in the generations working together and with other families. We are
exploring partnerships with missionaries and agencies to offer mission trips
where everyone from grade-schoolers to grandparents can go and serve together.
Our goal is to work (with a ministry who is using the serving-as-a-family model)
in a camp for orphans with a high-energy, relationship-building, worship and
teaching approach – filled with games, songs, crafts, candy, and new t-shirts
for the mistreated and abandoned orphans. We then plan to build on what we learn
to offer several additional family mission trips next year. Contact Gentry
(email
or phone 719-522-0250) for more info.
